Heidi Armbruster (*1964 in Freudenstadt, Deutschland) is research fellow at University of Southampton for a European Union Research Project on Border Identities. She studied anthropology at the Universities of Munich, Vienna and London, and received her PhD in Anthropology from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

Michelle Becka (*1972 in Offenbach/M.) studierte in Tübingen und Cochabamba (Bolivien) Katholische Theologie und dissertiert zur Zeit in Tübingen an der Katholisch-Theologischen Fakultät mit einer Arbeit im Bereich Ethik zur narrativ vermittelten Kontrasterfahrung als Beitrag zu interkultureller Philosophie.

Bertold Bernreuter (*1969 in Amberg/Oberpfalz) studierte Philosophie, Germanistik, Interkulturelle Kommunikation und Geographie an den Universitäten Münster, Wien, Mexiko-Stadt (UNAM) und München. Er unterrichtet an einer Münchner Sprachenschule und ist Chefredakteur von polylog. Forum für interkulturelle Philosophie.

Arve Brunvoll (*1937 in Molde, Norway) is Professor at the Norwegian Teacher Academy for Studies in Religion and Education in Bergen. He studied theology and philosophy. In 1968, he received his PhD in Philosophy from the Glasgow University, and in 1997, a second Dr. phil. from University of Bergen. Since 1993, he is involved in the organization of academic and educational events in and about Eritrea.

Emmanuel Chukwudi Eze (born en Nigeria) is Assistant Professor at Bucknell University, Lewisburg/Penn., and in 2000 became Adjunct Associate Professor at York College in Pennsylvania (USA). He is also a Member of St. Edmund's College, University of Cambridge (England). He received his B.A. in Philosophy from the Institut de Philosophie, Kinshasa (Zaire), in 1987, a second B.A. in Philosophy two years later from Fordham University, New York (USA). There, in 1991, he obtained a M.A., and in 1993, his PhD, both in Philosophy. His main areas of research and teaching are modern African and modern European Philosophy, Social and Political Philosophy and Philosophy of Race.

Anke Graneß (*1967 in Eberswalde, Brandenburg) studierte Philosophie, Soziologie und Afrikanistik an den Universitäten Leipzig und Wien mit einem Schwerpunkt in afrikanischer und interkultureller Philosophie. Sie referierte auf zahlreichen Kongressen zu afrikanischer Philosophie. Hauptberuflich ist sie in der Internetbranche tätig.

Hans Gerald Hödl (*1959) ist Vertragsassistent am Institut für Religionswissenschaft der Universität Wien. Er studierte Katholische Theologie, Religionspädagogik und Philosophie in Wien, wo er 1990 in Philosophie promovierte. Er ist Habilitand am Institut für Kunst- und Kulturwissenschaften der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin und seit 1989 Mitarbeiter an der Historisch-Kritischen Ausgabe der Werke Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsches. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte umfassen Religionsphilosophie, Theorie der Religionen, Kulturwandel (Synkretismus und/oder Transformation), Schamanismus, westafrikanische und afroamerikanische Religionen, Ritualtheorien.

Ulrich Lölke (*1963 in Stadthagen, Niedersachsen) ist Dozent für Medizin- und Pflegeethik am Institut für Medizin-Soziologie der Universität Hamburg und Lehrbeauftragter am Fachbereich Kulturwissenschaft der Universität Lüneburg. Er studierte Philosophie, Kunstgeschichte und Theologie in Berlin, Frankfurt/M. und Hamburg, Abschluß mit einer Arbeit zum Arbeitsbegriff bei Karl Marx und Martin Heidegger. Es folgten ein Forschungsaufenthalt an der University of Ghana in Legon bei Kwame Gyekye und die Promotion an der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf mit einer Arbeit über die philosophischen Diskurse in Afrika.

Mario Magallón Anaya (*l946 en Michoacán, México) es profesor de filosofía y estudios latinoamericanos en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Es investigador del Centro Coordinador y Difusor de Estudios Latinoamericanos (CCyDEL) de dicha universidad. Ha impartido cursos de filosofía y educación en varias universidades e instituciones mexicanas. Su especialidad es historia de las ideas latinoamericanas. Actualmente se dedica a una investigación sobre el pensamiento filosófico político de Ricaurte Soler.

Günther Mahr (*1954 in Graz) arbeitet seit 15 Jahren in der EDV. Er promovierte 1999 an der Universität Wien mit der Arbeit Die Geschichte der Ideen als Grundlage der lateinamerikanischen Philosophie in Philosophie. Sein Buch Die Philosophie als Magd der Emanzipation – Zur Einführung in das Denken von Arturo Andrés Roig erscheint Ende 2000 im Concordia-Verlag in Aachen. Er ist Obmann der Interdisziplinären Gesellschaft für lateinamerikanische Philosophie in Wien.

Chantal Mouffe (*1943 in Charleroi) is Quintin Hogg Senior Research Fellow in Politics at the Centre for the Study of Democracy at the University of Westminster in London. Educated at the Universities of Louvain, Paris and Essex, she has taught at many universities in Europe, North America and Latin America, and has held research positions at Harvard, Cornell, the University of California, the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in Paris. Between 1989 and 1995 she was Directrice de Programme at the Collège International de Philosophie in Paris. She is internationally known for her work in social and political theory, particularly new social movements and their influence on contemporary societies. Her early work was concerned with Gramscian and Marxist theory, along with feminist theory. She is currently involved in developing theories of pluralism and social antagonisms within the project of radical democracy.

Gail Presbey (*1959 in Detroit) is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at University of Detroit Mercy. She obtained her PhD in Philosophy from Fordham University, New York. During 1998-2000 she was Fulbright Senior Scholar at University of Nairobi. She did interviews and research at University of Ghana-Legon during the summer of 1996. She published lots of articles on African philosophy in Research in African Literatures, Quest, Widerspruch, New Political Science, Journal of Value Inquiry, and International Journal of Applied Philosophy.

Kazuo Sato is a professor in the Faculty of Education at Chiba University in Japan. He teaches philosophy, theory of culture, and gender studies. He is an editorial correspondent of the Hannah Arendt Newsletter and of polylog. Zeitschrift für interkulturelles Philosophieren. His most recent book is Onnatachino Kindai Hihan (Criticism of Modernity by the Japanese Female Anarchists in 1930).

Dieter Senghaas (*1940 in Geislingen/Steige) ist seit 1978 Professor für Politikwissenschaften an der Universität Bremen und leitet dort das Institut für Interkulturelle und Internationale Studien (InIIS). Er studierte Politikwissenschaft, Soziologie, Geschichte und Philosophie an den Universitäten Tübingen, Amherst/Mass., Frankfurt/M. und Ann Arbor/Mich. 1967 promovierte er mit einer Arbeit zur Abschreckungspolitik, es folgte ein Forschungsaufenthalt an der Harvard University, Cambridge/Mass. Von 1972 bis 1978 war er Professor für Internationale Beziehungen an der Universität Frankfurt/M. Seit 1971 ist er Vorsitzender der Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Friedens- und Konfliktforschung (AFK), seit 1973 Mitherausgeber von Leviathan. Zeitschrift für Sozialwissenschaft. Er war mehrmals Forschungsprofessor in der Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik, Ebenhausen bei München, und ist Träger mehrerer nationaler und ausländischer Wissenschaftspreise. Diana de Vallescar Palanca (*1962 en Barcelona, de padre catalán y madre filipina – de ascendencia china/española) emigró a México en 1968, y a las Islas Filipinas en 1976. De 1983 a 1987 realizó estudios de teología católica en la Universidad Pontificia de México, de 1987 a 1991 la Licenciatura en Filosofía en la Universidad Intercontinental de México. De 1994 a 2000 realizó un doctorado en filosofía en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid con una investigación en el campo de la filosofía intercultural. Ha desempeñado la docencia a nivel escolar y universitario, así como en la escuela para adultos. Actualmente trabaja en un proyecto sobre Interculturalidad y Mujer en Madrid, apoyado por CEYPO (México) y el Instituto Missio e.V. (Aachen), y en unos talleres sobre esa temática.

Luis Villoro (*l922 en Barcelona) obtuvo su doctorado en filosofía en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). En 1948 comenzó su labor docente como profesor en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la UNAM. Formó parte del grupo Hiperión, cuyo propósito general era construir una filosofía propiamente americana. Ha sido investigador del Instituto de Investigaciones Filosóficas de l971 a 1989, igualmente profesor de la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM). Es miembro de El Colegio Nacional desde 1978. De 1983 a 1987 fue embajador de México ante la UNESCO en París. En diciembre de l986, obtuvo el Premio Nacional de Ciencias Sociales, Historia y Filosofía. En 1989 le fue otorgado el Premio Universidad Nacional en Investigación en Humanidades. Fue mediador en el conflicto entre los zapatistas y el gobierno mexicano en Chiapas.

María Elena Walsh (*l930 en Ramos Mejía, Argentina) es una de las artistas contemporáneas más destacadas de la Argentina. En 1945, publica sus primeros versos de poesía. A los 17 años, escribió su primer libro, una colección de poemas. Entre 1952 y 1956 residió en París, donde empezó a crear canciones infantiles y grabó discos de música folklórica. Desde 1959 escribe también guiones para la televisión y obras de teatro. María Elena Walsh lleva más de treinta años cautivando el corazón del público argentino con sus canciónes, poesía y libros para niños y no tan niños ... Sus libros han sido traducidos a varios idiomas.

Niels Weidtmann (*1967 in Tübingen) studierte Philosophie, Politik und Biologie an der Universität Würzburg und der Duke University in Durham/NC, USA. Promotion in Philosophie 1999 bei Heinrich Rombach an der Universität Würzburg mit einer Arbeit über den Weltcharakter von Kulturen. Seine Arbeitsschwerpunkte liegen in der Strukturphänomenologie, der interkulturellen Philosophie und der Afrikanischen Philosophie. Derzeit ist er als wissenschaftlicher Referent bei der Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes tätig.

Kwasi Wiredu (*1931 in Kumasi, Ghana) is Professor of Philosophy at the University of South Florida, Tampa. He did his undergraduate studies at the University of Ghana, Legon, and he received his doctorate from Oxford University in 1960, where he wrote his dissertation, entitled Knowledge, Truth and Reason. He then taught at the University of North Staffordshire at Keele, now the University of Keele. After one year, he returned to his home country to teach at the University of Ghana, where he taught Philosophy for 23 years. He has also taught at Ibadan University in Nigeria (1984) and since 1987 he was based at the University of South Florida. Since August 1999 he has been Visiting Professor at the Department of Philosophy, Duke University. His main interests are African philosophy, epistemology, philosophy of logic, metaphysics, and the philosophy of mind. Numerous articles of him, also in translation, have been published in journals and edited volumes worldwide.
